NovoTTF-100A Device

**Definition:** A portable, battery-operated device that is used to apply low intensity, alternating electric fields, also called tumor treatment fields (TTFs; TTFields), that can potentially be used to kill cancer cells. Upon placement of the insulated electrodes of the NovoTTF-100A device on the skin's surface encircling the tumor area, electrical charges are delivered, and the resulting electrical fields interfere with cell division. This induces cell death in and inhibits proliferation of tumor cells.
