Trichuris trichiura

**Definition:** A species of parasitic roundworms in the family Trichuridae most commonly found in tropical Asia and, to a lesser degree, in Africa and South America. Infestation with T. trichiura is generally confined to the cecum and colon but can be present in more distal segments of the GI tract in heavily infected individuals.
