24,25-Dihydroxycholecalciferol

**Definition:** A vitamin D derivative that is produced by the conversion of calcifediol by 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 24-hydroxylase (CYP24A1). 24,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol is a marker for calcifediol catabolism because it is the major metabolite of calcifediol, and its urine levels are increased in certain diseases, such as chronic kidney disease (CKD).
