Candida famata

**Semantic type:** Fungus

**Definition:** A species of commensal yeast in the family Trichocomaca that are found in cheese, dairy products and the environment. It is rarely recovered from clinical specimens, usually associated with skin. C. famata is negative for fermentation on lactose and galactose.

**Synonyms:** - CANDIDA FAMATA - Debaryomyces hansenii - Torulopsis candida
