Phosphoglycerate Kinase

**Definition:** A family of enzymes that catalyzes the transfer of a phosphate group from 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate (1,3-BPG) to adenosine diphosphate (ADP) yielding 3-phosphoglycerate (3-PG) and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and also catalyzes the reverse reaction that transfers a phosphate group from ATP to 3-PG yielding 1,3-BPG and ADP.
