**Definition:** A Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) containing the root of the perennial herbaceous plant Astragalus (Radix Astragali) belonging to the family Leguminosae. Huang Qi is believed to tonify Qi, induce diuresis, relieve edema and nourish blood. It may also replenish body fluids and help relieve pain.
