**Definition:** Human EMX2 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 10q26.11 and is approximately 7 kb in length. This allele, which encodes homeobox protein EMX2, plays a role in transcriptional regulation. Mutation of the gene may be associated with schizencephaly, endometrioid adenocarcinomas and Mullerian mesodermal tumors.
