Continuous Venovenous Hemodialysis

**Definition:** A method for hemodialysis that removes blood from a large vein (femoral, subclavian, or internal jugular), pumps it through a dialysis circuit, and returns it into the venous circulation. This method avoids fluid shifts and other complications of conventional dialysis for patients with acute renal failure.
