**Definition:** A scoring system developed by Ron Pisters et al. in 2010 to assess the risk of bleeding in patients with atrial fibrillation. The calculated score is determined based on the presence of the following risk factors: hypertension, abnormal kidney or liver function, previous history of stroke, a history of or predisposition to bleeding, labile INR, age over 65 years, and concomitant drug and alcohol use; and ranges from 1 to 9 points.
