**Definition:** A human deltaretrovirus related to HTLV-2. Human T-lymphotropic virus-1 (HTLV-1) is associated with adult T-cell leukemia (ATL) and HTLV-1-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP).
