**Definition:** Type B retrovirus. Etiologic agent of mouse mammary tumors. Transmitted horizontally through the lactating mammary gland and vertically through the germline. Mechanism of tumorigenesis involves the activation of cellular int genes by promoter/enhancer insertion.
