IgM-enriched Immunoglobulins

**Definition:** An immunoglobulin preparation consisting of immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin A (IgA), supplemented with immunoglobulin M (IgM), with potential antibacterial and immunomodulatory properties. Upon intravenous administration, IgM-enriched immunoglobulins may increase the elimination of infectious pathogens in comparison to immunoglobulin regimens lacking IgM. IgM is the major immunoglobulin secreted during the primary immune response and plays a significant role in compliment activation and in the neutralization of bacterial endo- and exotoxins.
