Delamanid
**Semantic type:** Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** A nitro-dihydro-imidazooxazole derivative, with antimycobacterial activity. Upon oral administration, delamanid, a prodrug, is activated via the mycobacterial F420 coenzyme system to form a reactive intermediate metabolite that inhibits the synthesis of the mycobacterial cell wall components methoxy-mycolic and keto-mycolic acid. This leads to the depletion of these cell wall components and destruction of mycobacteria.
**Synonyms:** - DELAMANID - Deltyba - Imidazo(2,1-b)oxazole, 2,3-Dihydro-2-methyl-6-nitro-2-((4-(4-(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenoxy)-1-piperidinyl)phenoxy)methyl)-, (2R)- - OPC 67683 - OPC-67683 - OPC67683
