Carbon C 11 Martinostat
**Semantic type:** Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** A radioconjugate composed of martinostat, a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor, labeled with the positron-emitting isotope carbon C 11, with potential use in imaging via positron emission tomography (PET)/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Upon intravenous administration of carbon C 11 martinostat, the martinostat moiety targets and binds to HDAC on tumor cells. Upon PET/MRI imaging, this radioligand may allow for the assessment of HDAC-expressing tumor cells. HDACs, upregulated in many tumor cell types, are a family of metalloenzymes responsible for the deacetylation of chromatin histone proteins.
**Synonyms:** - MARTINOSTAT C-11 - Martinostat C-11 - [11C]Martinostat
