Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast-Perfusion-Weighted Imaging
**Semantic type:** Diagnostic Procedure
**Definition:** A type of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging that monitors the passage of contrast medium through a capillary bed. It is based on inhomogeneity of the magnetic field during the passage of a short bolus of contrast medium through the capillary bed. It can demonstrate the characteristics of the vascular physiology and hemodynamics of tumors and has been used to differentiate recurrence from radiation injury.
**Synonyms:** - DSC - DSC-PWI - Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast Perfusion Weighted Imaging - Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast Perfusion-Weighted MR Imaging - Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast-Enhanced MR Perfusion
