Abductor Pollicis Brevis Muscle

**Definition:** A muscle of the hand, in general extending from the flexor retinaculum and the tubercles of the scaphoid and trapezium bones to the outer side of the base of the proximal phalanx of the thumb. Primary function is abduction of the thumb away from the palm.
