**Definition:** A humanized immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1) monoclonal antibody directed against activated coagulation factor XI (FXIa), with potential anticoagulant and anti-thrombotic activities. Upon administration, osocimab targets, binds to, and allosterically inhibits FXIa. This prevents the activation of coagulation factor IX (FIX) by FXIa and the formation of thrombin. FXI plays an important role in thrombosis.
