Pulse Radiolysis

**Semantic type:** Research Activity

**Definition:** Pulse Radiolysis is a technique of exposing a sample of material to a beam of highly accelerated electrons to initiate fast reaction events occurring between 10-11 and 102 s after energy absorption. The technique is used to study fast reactions of biologically important molecules, e.g. the kinetics and thermodynamics of redox processes and electron-transfer reactions, enzymatic processes and structural effects which are revealed by physical or kinetic properties.

**Synonyms:** - Photometry / Spectrum Analysis, Pulse Radiolysis
