Conditionally Reprogrammed Cells

**Semantic type:** Cell

**Definition:** A cellular sample derived from epithelial cells isolated from a tissue sample that were rapidly expanded in a monolayer culture in the presence of irradiated mouse cells and a Rho kinase (ROCK) inhibitor. Under these conditions the cells are reprogrammed to be more stem-like but the reprogramming is conditional. When the cells are transferred to cultures that mimic in vivo environments they become differentiated and can form structures that resemble the tissue from which they were derived.
