**Definition:** An organoid grown in vitro where a portion of the cultured cells or tissue is in contact with the medium and another portion is exposed to air. This technique promotes the growth of three dimensional mass resembling a layered tissue or organ, such as the pseudostratified columnar epithelium normally found in the lung and other organs.
