**Definition:** A fusion protein of leukocyte-associated immunoglobulin (Ig)-like receptor (LAIR)-2, a high-affinity collagen receptor, with potential immunomodulatory and antineoplastic activities. Upon administration, LAIR-2 fusion protein NC410 binds to the ligand collagen of LAIR-1 (CD305), thereby blocking the binding of LAIR-1 to its ligand collagen and inhibiting LAIR-1-mediated immune suppression. This may result in enhanced T-cell and dendritic cell (DC) activities, and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) and anti-tumor immune responses. LAIR-1, a collagen-receptor and an inhibitory immune receptor belonging to the Ig superfamily, is expressed on many peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) including T-cells and DCs.
