Household Crowding
**Semantic type:** Conceptual Entity
**Definition:** A condition where the number of occupants exceeds the capacity of a living space, resulting in adverse physical and/or mental health outcomes. Overcrowding is often measured by persons-per-room in a dwelling unit, but it can also be measure by total number of persons in a unit, regardless of unit size; the ratio of persons to floor space in square feet; and the person-to-size ratio adjusted for household composition, structure type, location, or lot size.
