Topoisomerase IV

**Definition:** Topoisomerase IV belongs to type II topoisomerase family (includes bacterial DNA gyrase, and eukaryotic topo II). The type II enzymes are multisubunit proteins, and require ATP for overall catalytic activity. Topoisomerase IV (is a potent decatenase) is required to untangle daughter chromosomes following replication.
