Enzyme-inducing Antiepileptic Drug

**Definition:** Any antiepileptic drug (AED) that induces a variety of enzymes, including a broad range of cytochrome P450 (CYP) family of enzymes and uridine 5'-diphospho-glucuronyltransferase (UGT) isoenzymes. This stimulates the metabolism and reduce serum concentrations of other administered agents and endogenous substrates, and alters biological pathways.
