Boron-based Gel

**Definition:** A boron-based topical gel formulation containing sodium pentaborate pentahydrate, with potential antioxidant, protective, and wound healing activities. Upon topical administration, boron-based topical gel may prevent oxidative stress and damage by increasing the activity of glutathione. It may also promote wound healing by regulating the levels of certain cytokines and enzymes, such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), cathepsin D, collagenase and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). In addition, it may improve skin hydration which may help protect against skin irritation.
