CD11 Protein Family

**Definition:** A family comprised of four integrin alpha subunits that are expressed on the surface of leukocytes and usually form a complex with integrin beta-2 (ITGB2/CD18). CD11/CD18 integrins play a role in leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion through binding to intercellular adhesive molecule-1 (ICAM-1; CD54) or ICAM-2 (CD102), which are expressed on the surface of endothelial cells.
