Type 1 Autoimmune Hepatitis

**Definition:** The most common subtype of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). It is characterized by the presence of antinuclear antibody (ANA) and anti-smooth-muscle antibody (ASMA), a prevalence of female patients, and is highly corticosteroid-responsive. It may be associated with other concomitant autoimmune disorders including autoimmune thyroiditis, Graves disease, and ulcerative colitis.
