Lindera obtusiloba Extract
**Semantic type:** Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** A dietary supplement composed of an ethanol extracted powder of Lindera obtusiloba, with potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Upon administration, Lindera obtusiloba extract (LOE) may promote anti-oxidant activities through the activation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf-2)/heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1)/ NAD(P)H dehydrogenase [quinone] 1 (NQO1), which reduces the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lowers ROS-mediated oxidative stress. In addition, LOE may exert anti-inflammatory effects through the inhibition of the phosphorylation and activation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB).
**Synonyms:** - L. obtusiloba Extract - LOE
