Gallium Ga 68-DOTA-5G
**Semantic type:** Indicator, Reagent, or Diagnostic Aid|Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** A radioconjugate composed of 5G, an integrin alphaVbeta6 (aVb6)-targeting peptide, conjugated, via the bifunctional, macrocyclic chelating agent 1,4,7,10-tetra-azacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetra-acetic acid (DOTA) to the radioisotope gallium Ga 68, with potential use as a tracer for integrin aVb6-expressing tumor cells during positron emission tomography (PET). Upon administration of gallium Ga 68-DOTA-5G, the 5G moiety targets and binds to integrin aVb6 expressed on tumor cells. Upon binding, integrin aVb6-expressing tumor cells can be detected during PET imaging. Integrin aVb6, a cell adhesion and signaling receptor, is upregulated in certain cancer cell types and has been associated with increased proliferation, migration and invasion of tumor cells.
**Synonyms:** - [68Ga]-DOTA-5G
