**Definition:** Human TRIM28 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 19q13.43 and is approximately 7 kb in length. This allele, which encodes transcription intermediary factor 1-beta protein, plays a role in protein modification, chromatin remodeling, inhibition of herpesvirus 8-mediated lysis and transcriptional regulation. Mutation of the gene may be associated with familial Wilms tumor.
