Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center/Motzer Score for Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma

**Definition:** A prognostic cancer model that predicts survival for patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma. It uses five prognostic factors to stratify patients into risk groups with median survival times that are separated by six months or more: interval from diagnosis to systemic treatment of less than 1 year, Karnofsky performance status less than 80%, serum lactate dehydrogenase greater than 1.5 times the upper limit of normal; corrected serum calcium greater than 10 mg/dL (2.5 mmol/L); and serum hemoglobin less than the lower limit of normal.
