**Definition:** Human FAF2 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 5q35.2 and is approximately 62 kb in length. This allele, which encodes FAS-associated factor 2 protein, plays a role in endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation of misfolded proteins and the regulation of apoptosis. Aberrant overexpression of the gene is associated with atopic dermatitis.
