**Definition:** An indole-derived, cell-permeable, mitochondrial-targeted molecule, with potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Upon administration, mitochondria-targeted antioxidant MIT-001 scavenges increased level of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) during cellular damage. This removes excessive mitochondrial ROS and may prevent oxidative damage and inflammation.
