**Definition:** A variant lineage of SARS coronavirus 2 where the following variations in the spike glycoprotein sequence have been identified: amino acid substitutions G142D, E154K, L452R, E484Q, D614G, P681R and Q1071H. The substitution T95I has also been detected in some but not all sequences for this lineage.
