**Definition:** A variant lineage of SARS coronavirus 2 where the following variations in the spike glycoprotein sequence have been identified: deletions of the amino acids at positions 156 and 157 and amino acid substitutions T19R, R158G, L452R, T478K, D614G, P681R and D950N. The substitution G142D has also been detected in some but not all sequences for this lineage.
