Receptor Mediated Endocytosis

**Definition:** A process by which cells internalize molecules or viruses. Receptors on the plasma membrane of the target cell bind to specific cell surface receptors on the endocytic cells, inducing formation of coated pits and endocytic invagination of the plasma membrane.
