Image File Directory

**Semantic type:** Intellectual Product

**Definition:** A section of a Tag Image File Format (TIFF) file where the first two bytes state the number of fields that the image file directory contains, followed by a sequence of 12-byte field entries, and then the final 4 bytes give the offset to the next image file directory (IFD) from the start of the header. There must be at least one IFD in a TIFF file and each IFD must have at least one entry.
