**Definition:** Transcriptome sequencing where either sequencing reads are aligned to reference genes or genomes and then analyzed by software to identify discordant sequences associated with rearrangements are present or samples are subjected to direct sequencing approaches where either each read pair maps to opposite sides of a chimeric junction or where chimeric transcripts overlapping the fusion junction are identified in the reads.
