Auditory Brainstem Response

**Definition:** A neurologic test of auditory brainstem function in response to auditory stimuli, used to diagnose suspected neurologic abnormalities of the 8th cranial nerve as well as the associated auditory pathways. It is an objective measurement of auditory pathway function from the auditory nerve to the mesencephalon.
