Oncolytic Adenovirus Expressing Interferon YSCH-01
**Semantic type:** Pharmacologic Substance
**Definition:** An oncolytic adenovirus that has been genetically engineered to express interferon (IFN), with potential immunostimulating and antineoplastic activities. Upon intratumoral administration, the oncolytic adenovirus expressing IFN YSCH-01 selectively infects and replicates in tumor cells, leading to tumor cell lysis. In addition, tumor cell lysis releases a variety of tumor-associated antigens (TAAs), which may potentially result in the activation of a systemic immune response against the TAAs-expressing tumor cells. The IFN expressed by the oncolytic adenovirus also activates T-lymphocytes, dendritic cells (DCs) and natural killer (NK) cells and induces an anti-tumor immune response against the tumor cells.
