**Definition:** A colorimetric reaction used to calculate the concentration of total protein in a sample or solution. It uses quantitative binding of Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250 dye to amino acids followed by measurement of spectroscopic absorbance at 595 nm and comparison to reference samples.
