Efgitasialase Alfa

**Semantic type:** Pharmacologic Substance

**Definition:** A fusion protein composed of two engineered human sialidase molecules fused to an Fc antibody domain, with potential immunomodulating and antineoplastic activities. Upon administration, efgitasialase alfa targets and binds to sialoglycans overexpressed on the cell surface of certain tumor cells and immune cells, such as exhausted T-cells. This degrades the immunosuppressive sialoglycans and allows for the re-activation of the immune system, thereby inducing an anti-tumor immune response. Sialidase is an enzymatic degrader of immunosuppressive sialoglycans. Efgitasialase alfa is based on the enzyme-antibody glyco-ligand editing (EAGLE) platform. The Fc domain enhances retention in the tumor, half-life and manufacturability.

**Synonyms:** - Bi-Sialidase Fusion Protein E-602 - E 602 - E-602 - E602 - EAGLE Fusion Protein E-602 - EFGITASIALASE ALFA
