**Definition:** A variant lineage of SARS coronavirus 2 where the following variations in the spike glycoprotein sequence have been identified: deletions of the amino acids at positions 69/70, 143/145 and 212 and amino acid substitutions A67V, G142D, N211I, D614G, H655Y, N679K, P681H, N764K, D796Y, Q954H and N969K.
