**Definition:** An antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) composed of a monoclonal antibody directed against the tumor-associated antigen (TAA) claudin 6 (CLDN6; CLDN-6) linked to an as of yet undisclosed cytotoxic agent, with potential antineoplastic activity. Upon administration of anti-CLDN6 ADC DS-9606a, the anti-CLDN6 antibody moiety targets and binds to CLDN6-expressing tumor cells. Upon binding and internalization, the cytotoxic agent is released and kills the CLDN6-expressing tumor cells, through an as of yet unknown mechanism of action. CLDN6, a transmembrane tight-junction protein and embryonic antigen, is overexpressed on a variety of tumor cells but is not expressed on normal, healthy adult cells.
