**Definition:** A polyethylene glycol (PEG)-conjugated form of the cytokine interleukin-2 (IL-2), with potential immunopotentiating and antineoplastic activities. Upon administration, pegylated IL-2 8MW2311 activates the Janus kinase/signal transducers and activators of transcription (JAK/STAT) signaling pathway. This induces the proliferation of CD8+ T-cells, enhances tumor cell killing and decreases tumor cell proliferation. Pegylation of IL-2 protects the cytokine from degradation.
