Phosphorylated Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 4E-Binding Protein 1

**Definition:** A post-translationally modified form of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E-binding protein 1 (EIF4EBP1) where one or more of the threonine or serine residues are phosphorylated. Phosphorylation of threonine-37 and -46 is dependent on serine/threonine-protein kinase mTOR activity and may be a surrogate marker for tumor growth, cell survival, angiogenesis and metastasis.
