Bisphosphoglycerate Mutase

**Definition:** Bisphosphoglycerate mutase (259 aa, ~30 kDa) is encoded by the human BPGM gene. This protein is involved in the release of 2,3-bisphosphoglycerate (2,3-BPG), which is an allosteric inhibitor for oxygen binding to hemoglobin.
