**Definition:** A guiding principle of radiation oncology therapy wherein any ionizing radiation applied to a patient should be as low as reasonably achievable in order to maximize radioprotection. Applying this safety principle requires the adjustment of exposure time, distance from source, and shielding of non-treated areas.
