STAT3/RARA Fusion Gene

**Definition:** A fusion gene resulting from an as of yet uncharacterized rearrangement involving 17q21.2 that fuses either exon 21 or exon 23 of the STAT3 gene in frame with exon 3 of the RARA gene. This chromosomal aberration is associated with acute myeloid leukemia with a variant RARA translocation.
