IRF2BP2/RARA Fusion Gene

**Definition:** A fusion gene resulting from a chromosomal translocation, t(1;17)(q42.3;q21.2), which fuses exon 1, exon 1b or exon 2 of the IRF2BP2 gene with exon 3 of the RARA gene. This chromosomal aberration is associated with acute myeloid leukemia with a variant RARA translocation.
